The University of Malawi, primarily located in Zomba, is a public institution celebrated for its robust programs in Law, Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences, serving as a cornerstone for higher education and research in the nation. It offers a unique academic experience in an English-speaking environment, making it accessible for international students seeking a vibrant African context. While dedicated international summer schools are not extensively advertised, the university's standard curriculum is taught in English, and support for international students is typically provided through its admissions and student affairs offices. A distinctive characteristic is its historical role as the "mother university," from which several other prominent Malawian universities originated through restructuring.
