About
The Universidad de Puerto Rico, Mayaguez (UPRM) is Puerto Rico's premier engineering and agricultural institution, renowned for its strong programs in engineering, agricultural sciences, and marine sciences. As the only land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university in the Caribbean, UPRM offers a unique research-intensive environment. International students are supported by the Office of International Programs, which facilitates exchange opportunities and provides advising, though proficiency in Spanish is generally recommended as it is the primary language of instruction. While some courses and resources are available in English, particularly at the graduate level, the experience offers deep immersion into Puerto Rican culture and academic excellence.
