About

The Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela (UBV) is a public institution established as a cornerstone of the Bolivarian Revolution, aiming to democratize higher education and promote social development within Venezuela. It is best known for its focus on community engagement, critical thinking, and programs designed to address national needs, particularly in social sciences, education, and environmental management. While its primary mission is national, international students would find an immersive experience deeply rooted in Venezuelan societal context, requiring strong Spanish proficiency as instruction is predominantly in Spanish. UBV does not typically offer dedicated English-taught programs or extensive international student support offices in the traditional sense, but may have regional exchange opportunities. Its distinctive characteristic is its foundational link to the Bolivarian political project, emphasizing a non-traditional, inclusive educational model with a strong commitment to social justice and community service.

Castellano said that the Bolivarian University is based on UNESCO principles for education and that "The professional produced by...
