Gwangju National University of Education (GNUE) is a highly specialized public institution in South Korea, exclusively dedicated to training future elementary school teachers. Its academic focus is primarily on pedagogical studies, educational psychology, and subject-specific teaching methodologies for primary education, making it the leading institution in the Gwangju region for teacher training. For international students, opportunities are predominantly through exchange programs, as the core curriculum is taught in Korean and geared towards domestic teacher certification. While dedicated English-taught degree programs are not a feature, the university's Office of International Affairs supports exchange students with cultural immersion and administrative assistance. A distinctive characteristic is its singular mission to cultivate highly qualified educators for the nation's elementary schools.
