About
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), established as India's first open university, is a pioneering institution dedicated to providing accessible higher education through distance learning. It is best known for its extensive reach and flexible academic programs across various disciplines, including Arts, Commerce, Science, and Social Sciences, making education available to a broad spectrum of learners who might otherwise face barriers to traditional university attendance. While its primary focus is domestic, international students interested in flexible, self-paced learning can potentially enroll in its diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, many of which are offered in English medium. The university does not have dedicated international student offices or exchange programs in the traditional sense, but its distance learning model inherently supports global access. A distinctive characteristic is its commitment to democratizing education, offering a unique opportunity for global learners seeking quality education without geographical constraints.
