About

The Open University of China (formerly Central Radio and TV University) is a pioneering institution in China, renowned for its extensive distance education and lifelong learning initiatives. It excels in providing accessible higher education through a vast network of branches across the country, offering a wide array of vocational, professional, and academic programs primarily through online and blended learning formats. While its primary focus is domestic distance education, OUC does engage in international collaborations and offers some programs accessible to international learners, often through partnerships or specific projects aimed at promoting open education globally. International students might find opportunities in areas like Chinese language and culture, or specific vocational training, though dedicated English-taught degree programs for international students are less prominent than in traditional universities. Its most distinctive characteristic is its unparalleled role as China's national open university, reaching millions of learners through its innovative distance learning infrastructure.
