Al-Eman University, located in Sana'a, Yemen, is primarily recognized for its intensive curriculum in Islamic and Sharia sciences, attracting students seeking deep immersion in Quranic studies, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence. Its strongest programs are centered around classical Islamic scholarship, including Fiqh (Islamic law) and Tafsir (Quranic exegesis). While it historically drew international students for its specialized religious education, the ongoing conflict and security situation in Yemen make it an extremely unsafe and impractical destination for prospective international students today. The university does not typically offer dedicated international programs, English-taught courses, or conventional support services for a diverse international student body. A distinctive characteristic of Al-Eman University is its historical association with a specific conservative interpretation of Islam, which has been a subject of international scrutiny.

He was co-founder of Islah (a Yemeni opposition party) and was theological adviser to Osama bin Laden. The statement made by the U.S. Treasury mentions that some students at Iman University have been arrested for political and religious murders.
