Located along the Spokane River, Gonzaga University is a mid-sized Jesuit Catholic institution renowned for its strong sense of community and exceptional programs in business, engineering, nursing, and the liberal arts. Campus life is deeply rooted in the Jesuit tradition of *cura personalis* (care for the whole person), inspiring a collaborative culture centered on ethics, undergraduate research, and widespread participation in community service. Outside the classroom, the Zag experience is distinguished by an enthusiastic outdoor culture in the Pacific Northwest and legendary school spirit fueled by the university's powerhouse Division I basketball teams and the famous "Kennel Club" student section.

Founded in 1887 by Joseph Cataldo, a Sicilian-born priest and Jesuit missionary, the university is named after the young Jesuit saint Aloysius Gonzaga. The campus houses 105 buildings on 152 acres of grassland alongside the Spokane River, in a residential setting a half-mile (800 m) from downtown Spokane.
