About

Founded in 1879 and affiliated with the AME Zion Church, Livingstone College is a historic Black institution (HBCU) in Salisbury, North Carolina, renowned for its commitment to providing a transformative, "holistic" education. Prospective students will find highly supportive, career-focused academic pathways, with particularly strong and popular programs in business administration, criminal justice, biology, and hospitality management. Campus life is defined by a vibrant, close-knit family atmosphere featuring active Divine Nine Greek organizations, CIAA Division II athletics, and the energetic "Blue Thunder" marching band. Setting Livingstone apart is its unique "Holistic College" model—which pairs classroom learning with mandatory character-building and life-skills training—alongside its proud heritage as the birthplace of Black intercollegiate football.
