The University of Tehran (UT) (Persian: دانشگاه تهران, Dâneshgâh-e Tehrân) is a public collegiate university in Iran, and the oldest and most prominent Iranian university located in Tehran. Based on its historical, socio-cultural, and political pedigree, as well as its research and teaching profile, UT has been nicknamed " The Mother University" (دانشگاه مادر, Dâneshgâh-e mâdar), which means flagship university.
