About

Located in the scenic Galicia region of northwestern Spain, the Universidade de Vigo is widely recognized for its strong emphasis on scientific research, marine sciences, and engineering disciplines. The institution stands out for its unique three-campus structure—Vigo, Ourense, and Pontevedra—with the Vigo campus particularly renowned globally for its cutting-edge research in oceanography and telecommunications. For international students, the university offers a welcoming environment supported by a dedicated International Relations Office that handles exchange programs like Erasmus and provides comprehensive guidance on housing and administration. While most undergraduate degrees are taught in Spanish, the university increasingly offers postgraduate programs and specific courses taught in English, alongside affordable Spanish language courses to help newcomers integrate. A distinctive characteristic of the university is its futuristic, award-winning "Campus Lagoas-Marcosende" designed by renowned architect Miralles, which sits atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and creates an inspiring, modern backdrop for study and innovation.
