About
Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) is Malaysia's first and largest polytechnic, established in 1969, renowned for its robust technical and vocational education and training (TVET). It excels particularly in engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering, as well as Information Technology and Accountancy, focusing on practical, industry-relevant skills. For international students, PUO offers diploma programs with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, preparing graduates for immediate employment. While Malay is the national language, English is extensively used in technical subjects and academic materials, and an international office assists with admissions and student support. Its distinctive characteristic lies in its pioneering legacy and consistent contribution to Malaysia's skilled workforce development over five decades.
