About
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) is Thailand's only public open university, renowned for its flexible distance learning approach, making higher education accessible across the nation. It excels in fields such as Education, Management, Law, and Agricultural Extension, offering a wide array of programs designed for self-study. For prospective international students, it's crucial to note that the primary language of instruction for all degree programs is Thai, meaning strong proficiency in Thai is essential for enrollment. While STOU engages in international academic collaborations, it does not offer dedicated English-taught degree programs or a specific international student office for degree-seeking non-Thai speakers. Its distinctive characteristic lies in its pioneering role in providing flexible, open-access education, primarily serving the Thai-speaking population.
