About
Riga Aviation University (RAU) was a historically significant institution in Latvia, renowned for its specialized education in civil aviation and aerospace engineering. Tracing its origins back to 1919, RAU was a leading center for training aviation specialists, particularly during the Soviet era, covering fields like aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, and avionics. While the university as 'Riga Aviation University' no longer operates independently, its academic legacy and some functions were integrated into the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI). Therefore, current international student programs, dedicated support services, or English-taught degrees are not available under the RAU name; prospective international students interested in aviation should explore TSI. Its distinctive characteristic was its role as a primary regional hub for comprehensive civil aviation education.
