About

Kyoto Seika University is globally renowned as a pioneer in arts, design, and manga education, housing Japan's first dedicated Faculty of Manga and offering innovative programs in storytelling, animation, and contemporary fine arts. The university provides a welcoming, highly creative environment for international students, who comprise a significant portion of the student body and are supported by a dedicated International Center that assists with admissions, visas, and Japanese language acquisition. While foundational studio courses are primarily conducted in Japanese, the institution offers specialized English-taught tracks and degree pathways designed to accommodate non-native speakers seeking to break into the global creative industries. Its most distinctive characteristic is its avant-garde academic culture, which officially treats manga and pop culture as serious academic disciplines alongside traditional fine arts. Situated in the culturally rich city of Kyoto, the campus offers an inspiring backdrop where students can immerse themselves in both traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern creative movements.
