About
Islamic Azad University, Someh Sara, is a branch of Iran's extensive private Islamic Azad University system, serving the educational needs of the Gilan province. It is best known for its practical-oriented programs in fields such as engineering, agriculture, and management, aiming to equip students with skills relevant to the regional economy. For international students, the experience is largely integrated with the local student body, with instruction primarily in Persian. While the broader IAU system attracts international students, dedicated international offices or English-taught programs are less common at branch campuses like Someh Sara, meaning students should be prepared for a full immersion experience. Its distinctive characteristic is its role as a key educational hub for the local community in Someh Sara.
