About
Islamic Azad University, Ahar, established in 1985, is a branch of Iran's extensive private Islamic Azad University system, serving the East Azerbaijan region. It is primarily known for its practical programs in engineering, agricultural sciences, and humanities, designed to address regional development needs. While the main language of instruction is Persian, the university welcomes international students, often providing support through its general student affairs office for admissions and academic integration, though dedicated international schools or English-taught programs are not a prominent feature at this branch. International students can expect an immersive cultural experience within a local Iranian academic environment. A distinctive characteristic is its commitment to expanding higher education access in a more rural setting.
