The Islamic Arabic University in Bangladesh holds a unique position as the sole affiliating and regulatory body for all Fazil (degree level) and Kamil (postgraduate level) madrasahs across the country. Established to standardize and modernize traditional Islamic education, it primarily focuses on curricula development, examination administration, and degree awarding in subjects like Quranic Studies, Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic Law, and Arabic Language and Literature. While it doesn't operate a traditional campus with direct student enrollment, international students interested in deep Islamic scholarship can pursue studies through its extensive network of affiliated madrasahs. Support for international students would typically be managed by the individual madrasahs rather than the central university, with instruction predominantly in Arabic and Bengali. Its distinctive characteristic is its pivotal role in overseeing and elevating the standards of madrasah education nationwide.
Islamic Arabic University (Bengali: ইসলামি আরবি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public university in Mohammadpur Thana of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It operates through a number of fazil (bachelor) and kamil (master) level madrasahs all over Bangladesh instead of a localized campus. The Islamic Arabic University was authorized by passage in Parliament on 18 September 2013 of the Islamic Arabic University Bill. It supervises all 1,500 fazil (bachelor) and kamil (master) level madrasas in Bangladesh. Initially it was located at the Bangladesh Madrasah Teachers' Training Institute in Gazipur.
