About
Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in São José dos Campos is Brazil's most prestigious engineering school, renowned globally for pioneering excellence in aerospace, aeronautical, electronic, and mechanical engineering. Run under the auspices of the Brazilian Air Force, ITA is distinctive for its rigorous military-adjacent academic model and its unmatched network within Latin America's aviation and defense industries, having produced many of Brazil's leading scientists, aerospace executives, and astronauts. While the primary language of instruction is Portuguese and undergraduate admissions are fiercely competitive through a demanding national entrance exam, the institution increasingly welcomes international students through specialized exchange agreements and academic partnerships. Incoming international students benefit from the vibrant campus community and collaborative research centers, though non-Portuguese speakers must typically prepare for an immersive linguistic environment, particularly at the undergraduate level, while graduate programs offer greater flexibility for international research integration.
