About
Gnesins Russian Academy of Music is one of Russia's most prestigious higher education institutions for music, renowned for its comprehensive training of professional musicians, performers, composers, and musicologists. It is particularly strong in instrumental performance, vocal arts, conducting, and musicology, upholding the rich traditions of Russian classical music education. For international students, the Academy offers dedicated support through its International Department, including preparatory courses for Russian language and specialized music disciplines to facilitate integration into its rigorous programs. While most degree programs are taught in Russian, the Academy actively encourages international participation in masterclasses, festivals, and competitions. A distinctive characteristic is its unique "Gnesin System" which provides continuous music education from pre-college to postgraduate levels, alongside a strong focus on both classical and contemporary genres, including Russian folk instruments and jazz.
