About
The Escuela de Cadetes de Policía "General Francisco de Paula Santander" (ESCAD) is Colombia's premier institution for training future officers of the National Police. It is best known for its rigorous academic and practical programs in Police Sciences, Public Administration with a focus on public safety, and Criminal Investigation, preparing cadets for leadership roles in law enforcement. International students, typically from other Latin American nations, are integrated into the highly structured cadet training environment, participating through specific bilateral agreements rather than general enrollment. The experience is characterized by military-like discipline, intensive physical training, and a deep immersion into Colombian police doctrine, offering a unique, hands-on approach to security studies. Its distinctive characteristic is its role as the foundational training ground for the entire officer corps of the Colombian National Police.
