About

The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) is a world-renowned statutory corporation dedicated to fundamental research, rather than a traditional teaching university. It is best known for its pioneering work across four distinct schools: Theoretical Physics, Cosmic Physics (encompassing astronomy and astrophysics), Geophysics, and Celtic Studies. For international students, the experience is highly research-intensive, offering unique opportunities to engage in cutting-edge postgraduate and postdoctoral research alongside leading global scholars. While it doesn't offer typical undergraduate international programs or exchange offices, it actively welcomes international researchers, with all academic work conducted in English. Its distinctive characteristic is its singular focus on advanced, non-teaching research, fostering a highly specialized and collaborative environment for scientific and scholarly discovery.

Following a comprehensive review of the higher education sector and its institutions, conducted by the Higher Education Authority for the Minister for Education and Skills in 2013, DIAS was approved to remain an independent...
