About
The Democritus University of Thrace, established in 1973, is a prominent public institution in Greece, distinguished by its multi-campus structure spanning four cities across the Thrace region. Academically, it is highly regarded for its faculties in Engineering (particularly in Xanthi), Medicine (Alexandroupoli), and Law (Komotini), alongside strong programs in humanities and environmental sciences. For international students, the university primarily offers opportunities through the Erasmus+ program and other bilateral agreements, with support provided by its International Relations Office. While most undergraduate programs are taught in Greek, some postgraduate courses may be available in English. Its unique distributed model across Komotini, Xanthi, Alexandroupoli, and Orestiada fosters regional development and offers diverse academic environments.
