Central Institute of Fisheries Education

About

The Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) is India's premier institution dedicated exclusively to postgraduate education and research in fisheries science. It is best known for its comprehensive Master of Fisheries Science (M.F.Sc.) and Ph.D. programs, covering critical areas such as aquaculture, fish processing technology, aquatic environmental management, and fisheries resource management. For international students, CIFE offers English-taught programs, attracting scholars primarily from developing nations seeking advanced expertise in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. While it operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and may not have a standalone international school, its academic office provides support for international admissions and student welfare, often facilitating study through various scholarship schemes. A distinctive characteristic is its unique position as the only institute in India solely focused on postgraduate fisheries education and research under the ICAR system.
