About
The Azerbaijan National Conservatorie, established in 2000, is Azerbaijan's premier institution for higher musical education, renowned for its dual focus on classical European music traditions and the rich heritage of Azerbaijani national music, particularly mugham. It excels in programs like performance, composition, musicology, and conducting, offering a deep dive into both Western classical repertoire and unique Azerbaijani musical forms. International students are welcomed into a vibrant artistic community, with opportunities to study under distinguished faculty and engage with Azerbaijan's unique musical culture, though primary instruction is in Azerbaijani. The Conservatorie is particularly distinctive for its dedicated efforts in preserving, researching, and promoting Azerbaijani national music on a global scale.
