Fort Valley State University is a public historically Black university (HBCU) and Georgia’s only 1890 land-grant institution, renowned for its deep agricultural heritage and community-focused mission. Academically, the university is best known for its robust programs in the agricultural sciences, biology, and criminal justice, as well as housing Georgia’s only four-year veterinary technology degree program. Campus life offers a close-knit, supportive environment steeped in proud HBCU traditions, lively Greek life, and energetic Wildcat athletics. Through abundant undergraduate research opportunities and state-wide cooperative extension initiatives, FVSU uniquely blends practical, hands-on training with a strong culture of leadership and service.
