Perched on a scenic mesa in Durango, Colorado, Fort Lewis College is a public liberal arts institution best known for field-based learning and strong programs in environmental studies, adventure education, biology, and Native American & Indigenous Studies. Uniquely rooted in its history as a former Indigenous boarding school, the college honors a historic mandate by providing a full tuition waiver to eligible Native American and Alaska Native students, who make up more than 40% of the student body. Campus culture is vibrant, inclusive, and deeply connected to the outdoors, where world-class mountain biking, skiing, and river sports in the surrounding San Juan Mountains serve as natural extensions of the academic experience.
